Beneath this pragmatic exterior, I'm a hopeless romantic.
This probably explains why I’m a sucker for anything heart-shaped, why I believe that unicorns exist, why my beauty-pageant answer to solving all our world’s problems is love. And I’m sure it’s to no one’s surprise, why one of my favorite holidays is Valentine's Day!
My perfect Valentine’s Day would start with the guy picking me up in his own car, surprising me with a dozen red long-stemmed roses, a humorous but romantic greeting card, and a nice dinner out. The evening would be filled with good food, much laughter, some flirting, and a mentally-simulating conversation. The night would end with a simple goodnight kiss that stirs up the butterflies in my stomach, and whatever else the moment may lead us to do...
I don’t need to be dazzled with expensive jewelry, a violin solo or a weekend getaway. (I wouldn’t mind though!) I just want a few hours where I can forget about my countless to-do lists, feel loved and appreciated, and get lost in the fantasy that everything is right in the world.
I always thought the ideal Valentine's Day was easy to fulfill; however, as I get older, it seems like I may have unrealistic expectations and unicorns are more probable!
Being hopeless though, I am hopeful that Cupid will strike and I'll cross paths with my Valentine.
Until then, I want to let my family and friends know how much I appreciate them—whether they believe in unicorns or not!
