I find time to fly by at a much faster rate as I get older. I can’t believe it’s already May, when I remember it was
January just a few weeks ago. (Feel free to insert joke here on how I need to get a better
calendar! J)
There are days where I wish I posses the power to turn back time or
just to stop time for a little while. This way I can figure out what I want,
what I want to do, where I want to go and what I want to be when I grow up.
However, the reality is time won’t stay still.
So, as the second hand on my watch just keeps ticking away
(and as I’m stuck on an airplane for the next 1.5 hours), I can’t help thinking
about what I’d do differently if I had a chance to turned back the clock. Here’s a quick list:
- Study to learn versus study to pass a test.
- Spend more time with my mom.
- Get to know my paternal and material grandparents.
- Study abroad in Europe.
- Master a second language.
- Take a better care of my physical health.
- Travel with my mom to Hong Kong.
- Learn to swim better.
- Continue taekwondo.
- Continue violin lessons.
- Savor every moment of the days where the biggest stresses included nap times, pop quizzes, and running out of Aqua Net.
No matter how long this list may be or become, I don’t
regret much. This is because I truly believe that everything happens for a
reason—every decision made and didn’t make, every action taken and didn’t take,
and every person who comes in and out of our lives.

I also believe that if I don’t take the time left to learn
from the past, maximize the present and embrace the future, then that may
be my biggest regret when I look back on my life before my last breath.
As the plane lands in Oakland, I look forward to spending
each precious minute playing with my little nephews, Cyrus and Julius, hanging
out with my siblings, and hearing my dad share embarrassing stories about us!
If you can turn back the clock, what would you do
differently in your life?
