My mom was an epitome of selflessness, as she was constantly helping friends, serving the local community and caring for family. Her compassionate nature influenced me to do the same.
However, recent health problems have forced me to slow down (literally) and think about what’s really important to ME.
At first, the “ME” concept felt unnatural and wrong. After taking some time to reflect, I arrived to several conclusions:
The organizer in me wants to form concrete plans for the next 30+ years, but life experiences have taught me otherwise. Instead, I'm milling over several ideas—both short and long-term—on getting myself to a happier and healthier state mentally, emotionally and physically. More to come as I look forward to a fresh start in the New Year, but until then…
Thank you for all the love, comfort and support this past year. Wishing you a holiday season and a New Year where you’re surrounded by people who make YOU truly happy!
However, recent health problems have forced me to slow down (literally) and think about what’s really important to ME.
At first, the “ME” concept felt unnatural and wrong. After taking some time to reflect, I arrived to several conclusions:
- I deserve to be happy. Everybody deserves to be happy.
- If I don’t watch out for my own happiness and well-being, who will?
- If I’m not truly happy with myself first, then nothing nor anyone can make me happy. (And I won't be able help others get to their happy place.)
- If I don’t know what I want or where I want to go, then others can’t help me get it or get there.
- I need to stop hoping for things to happen and just make them happen.
- I shouldn't feel guilty about taking time for myself. It's okay to take a break to recharge and reflect. (I find it quite a luxury after a long week!)
