It has been almost a month since I turned 34. I’d typically publish a post on the day or near my actual birthday, June 3, to reflect on the past year and to re/set goals for the upcoming one. This year, I just didn’t have it in me to go through this annually-scheduled self-reflection and planning session. My rationale was...if I don't post anything, then I'm still young at 33. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
This is the first birthday where I feel time is flying by fast. Too fast. I feel I’ve yet to accomplish much of anything. And before I know it, I’ll be dead, buried, and stuck in the queue waiting for my next earthly assignment.
After doing more thinking, I found what's missing from the list is being a mother. I guess that rapid tick-tock noise that I’m hearing is actually my biological clock!
If things were going according to the life plan I created when I was 12, I would have had two kids by now. (Yes, the habit of planning ahead started at a young age!) One at age 25 and another at age 27. I’m nine years behind schedule. Yikes!
I need to get a jump on it before another nine years pass by. Better yet, I need to jump Gabe! ;)

You can try to comfort me by telling me that I’ve accomplished a lot already. I have a college degree. I have a great job with a great company. I own a car. I own my home. (Technically, only after when we finish paying the bank.) I have a husband who spoils me. I have a loving immediate and extended family. I have a supportive group of friends. I have a mischievous cat that keeps me amused. All this and yet, I still feel I haven't done much.
