| New year, new look! |
I’ve stopped declaring New Year’s resolutions after my many fail attempts in years past to lose weight, save money, teleport, etc. After reading the CNN article about what New Year’s resolutions NOT to make, I figured out where I went wrong. So, I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon and try again.
I'm thinking if I’m healthier, happier and more resourceful, then I can become a better daughter, sister, wife, niece, friend, co-worker and human being. So, for 2011, I’m declaring to evolve for the better—physically, emotionally and mentally.
As experts recommend, the best way to achieve a goal is by putting together a plan. So, here it is!
Step 1: I'm going to pry myself off the couch, except for Glee nights, of course. Trust me, it's not as easy as you think. I love my TV!
Step 2: I'm going follow through with myself. For example:
- I’ve been meaning to learn how to sew, more so now that I’ve inherited my mom’s sewing machine. Instead of just saying I want to learn, I’m going to sign up for sewing classes.
- I've been out of shape ever since I left college. Instead of finding excuses (i.e. marriage) for being overweight, I'm going to eat more fruit and veggies, drink more water, and be physically active.
- I’ve been eligible for a 401K with my new company for a few months now. Instead of thinking about retirement, I’m going to set-up one up and roll over other accounts.
- With family and friends around the world, it’s hard to see them in person. Instead of wondering how a friend or family member is doing, I’m going to pick up a phone and ask.
- I’ve had this list of dream destinations for years now. Instead of being in awe with other people’s adventures, I’m going to buy that ticket and experience it first-hand.
