Today would have been my mom's 56th birthday. And her birthday was her favorite day of the year. I'd always make a special effort to celebrate the day with her. This year is no difference.
I'm back at home in Portland, along with my siblings to celebrate my mom's birthday. My mom's brothers and sisters, as well as her nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews will be here too. And my dad is preparing a 12-course feast in honor of my mom.
It will be a bittersweet gathering, but my mom would be happy to know her loved ones are together on her day. While my mom isn't here to celebrate on Earth with us, I know she feels our love and wishes in Heaven. So on this day, I want to send this birthday message to my mom:
